i forgot my password for external drive my passport.i have not used it in a good few years,is their any way to get into this drive to format it i want to use it for a system image to upgrade my laptop im gona change they laptops hdd to ssd, thanks
If you enter a (wrong) password a few times, the drive should offer you the option to format it.
That will unlock and remove any password set on it, but will of course also completely blank it and remove all of the existing data on it.
So should cover what you want to do if you don’t actually care about what’s on it at the moment and just want a drive to format and use.
WD Smartware, WD Security and WD Drive Utilities should also offer you the erase option.
If you enter a (wrong) password a few times, the drive should offer you the option to format it…that didnt work…
