Linux on DL2100 - version and installing new programs

 I have two questions:

  1. What version of Linux is the DL2100 running?  I have been through countless ‘how to find what version of linux you are running’ how-tos on the web and the only thing that seems to work is “uname -u” which returns “Linux mycloud 3.10.38 …”.  I read something that says WD My Cloud uses Debian Wheezy.

  2. How do I begin to add new programs to the linux installation?  In particular I would like to run an SVN or GIT server.  Can you install something like “apt-get”?

I have only used linux sporatically, so thanks for any help you can provide.

Been over a year since I posted this, still wondering if there is a way to install GIT or SVN on a DL2100, has anyone ever done this?

Thanks ERmodel for the old reply, but SVN and GIT are not supported 3d party apps on a DL2100.
