I think this issue pertains to the my book world and sharespace units, as well. what I saw was that it shows up under shared locations but does not display music files. this is the work-around that I found that works: you can add the folder location to the itunes library.
- from within itunes, go to file, then add folder to library, then navigate to the folder location.
- once you add the folder to the library, content will be added to the media library and metadata will start to populate.
this will work for both audio and video, however, the itunes server will only display audio. also, you may have to add this location again if you add additional media files to this folder.
