Is it ok to let a "my book" on permanently?

Hello, I’m thinking about buying a WD My Book (4tb), but I don’t want to have to plug the ac every time I want to use it.

Is it ok to let it plugged into the energy all the time? or does this cause any kind of damage or wear?

I leave mine plugged into a power board/strip with a on/off button … so i don’t need to plug it in every time. I wouldn’t leave mine powered on 24/7 mainly for heat/power surge concerns.
