Installing Executable Applications

I’m using my external drive to supplement my tablet/PC. I am taking online courses in C++ and would like to install an IDE on the drive. Is there anything I need to prepare to install executable applications (like an IDE) on the drive?

You can install any executable application on the hard drive by changing the location as your external hard drive while installing the application/software. You should know that you can run that particular application/software from your external hard drive on that computer only from which you installed that application into the hard drive. The reason behind such drawback is that the registry files/log files attached to that particular software will create the directory into the computer which has operating system and registry/log files can run only on the operating system not on the external hard drive.
