How to sync MyClouds at different locations?

Hello,

I couldn’t get a clear answer to my previous topic so I’m reposting my question  :

I would like to use two My Cloud devices, at different locations (e.g. one at my home (“MyCloud1”) and one at my parents’ (“MyCloud2”)), and have them both do automatic weekly backups of my PC.

Also, I intend to store some videos and photos (currently on my PC) on my MyCloud1, and then delete them from my PC. Therefore, I would need MyCloud2 to synchronize once a week the content of MyCloud1.

The whole idea is that if my MyCloud1 gets broken or stolen, I could still recover my data from my MyCloud2…

1.Could someone please confirm that this is possible with one of the following device?
i) My_Cloud_Mirror_8TB_Recertified
ii) My_Cloud_Mirror_Gen_2
iii) My_Cloud_EX2

2 . Do I have to have two identifcal MyCloud devices, or can I also sync two different devices at different locations? (e.g., MyCloud Mirror and MyCloud Ex2)

Many thanks!

I thought your questions were answered in your previous topic by Joerg_A in the third post to that thread.

The My Cloud Mirror supports Remote Backups, see the My Cloud Mirror User Manual, Chapter 7, Remote Backup, page 74 for more information on how to setup and configure Remote Backups.

For the My Cloud EX2, see the My Cloud EX2 User Manual, Chapter 7, Remote Backup, page 69 for more information on how to setup and configure Remote Backups.

Thank you for the links.

Any idea about my other questions?

  1. Possibilitity to remote sync two different models of devices? (ex: Ex 2 and Mirror)
  2. Does the My Cloud Mirror recertified work as well as the Mirror Gen2? I mean, is it the same model?

From both User Manual links that were provided…

Great, thanks for sharing!

So there is only my last question left, and then I’ll be ready to order my two devices  :

If the recertified My Cloud Mirror is NOT a Gen 2 version then there will be a difference between the two devices in terms of hardware. General feature wise they should be identical. See the following link that explains some of the differences between the two devices:

Does anybody know the hardware differences between gen 1 and gen 2 My Cloud? Don’t understand why they would change hardware. They definetly changed the firmware.
