How to remove media database from public share

I have a my book world live duo since a few months. Working fine:

One share on the 4 TB internal disks RAID-1 called public.

One 4 TB USB disk connected and defined as a share.

I can access it and play movies on my TV using WDC  TV Live. Working excellent! On WDC TV Live I have never used media library. It has always been off. Been quite happy with that setting.

Now bought an ipad air, mostly to watch movies from the SAN. After trying various media player apps I found that vlc player for ios is best for me.

Was working fine, found the files on the NAS and could play them.

Then I did something, and started getting problems.

On WDC TV live I turned on  media library and added both my shares to media library.

Due to a problem with vlc media player I can no longer play the movies on the NAS. The media library just shows small “thumbnails”, instead of the full movie files. Several other ipad players show “thumbnails” and can play movies. But my preferred player, vlc cannot.

So I removed both shares (public and usb) from wdc TV live media library. This fixed the problem for my usb share.

Problem now is that I cannot prevent the NAS from re-building the media database after reboot. Seems it does that in memory. My shared videos.wdc directory is empty.

Connecting the browser to NAS, setting → Media I can see that:

Last Database Update: time last night

Music tracks: - (correct, no music there)

Pictures: - (correct, no music there)

Videos: 3716

Below are buttons that allows me to rebuild and rescan database. But I would like to remove it.

On USB share I have a movies directory. I can access all files from any player here without any problems.

On public share I cannot play files using vlc. I also have tried to create directory movies under public share. But the movies directory does not show up on the ipad players. It seems that public share and USB share is treated very differently.

I realize problem is with vlc media player for ios. I have reported this problem. I am coming here to hopefully get some help on how to remove the media database.

Sorry, subject was supposed to read: How to remove media database from  public share
