Didn’t took the backup of my HFS WD passport for Mac and formatted it with the Disk Utility twice. Yes twice since I first formatted with FAT but later to HFS. I assume that data might have left the hard drive after 2 formats. Is that so or do I still own a chance of recovery from this formatted WD hard drive?

Data from the formatted hard drive can get recovered even if it got erased multiple times. The possibility of data recovery remains certain until the hard drive is secured wipe which fills up the blocks with 0, one, etc. I suggest you try this free Mac data recovery software on your Mac or MacBook Pro. Also, advice you to not write any data to the disk further. Goodluck.
