If your wanting to use it away from home use WEBDAV. But the WD2GO site no longer supports this feature. At least not to the best of my knowledge. I’ve never had a great experience with the WD apps or remote site (WD2GO) as I’ve found them to be very slow and cumbersome. I get around it all by using NetDrive. It allows me to mount my MyCloud to others computers while I’m alway from home it also allows me to mount my google drive, dropbox, etc as drives. NetDrive is not free but if i remember correctly they do offer a trial period. I’d advise your giving it a try. You may also need to open some ports on your router to allow it to work. But be aware of the risks of opening up your device to the internet. Anyway I hope this helped.
Hi thanks for your answer.
Netdrive seems good but only on PC, I use macs and iphones.
I have an app that supports webdav, but i’m not sure how to set it up.
It asks for an adresse, a user name and pass.
Also I think I must change settings of my internet box router to allow connections in ?
You will need to access the WD My Cloud Dashboard to enable remote access or FTP access. There may be unofficial ways to access the WD My Cloud remotely but the above methods are the officially supported remote connection options.
If you have not already done so it is recommended one read’s the WD My Cloud User Manual to understand the various options and methods for using the WD My Cloud.
Thanks, but I try to access it via “unofficial” way: a third party iOS app that supports NAS or WebDav connections.
Someone mentioned Webdav… but can this be used from a device NOT on same local network as mycloud ? Like if i’m away from home and want to access mycloud with that app.
Since WD moved away, due to security issues, from using WebDAV with the OS 3 and the revamping of WD2Go.com it will be interesting to see if they removed WebDAV support all together on the WD My Cloud in the OS 3 firmware versions.
