How do you delete a backup & other problems

I am having trouble getting any answers from WD E-mail support, so I am posting here in the hope that someone can anser myh questions:

I purchased 2 WD My Passport 2TB HDD’s and copied the contents of my old drives (M_ and K_) over to them using Windows Explorer. However, when I come to use Smartware, there are now three problems here:

  1. Smartware is still trying to backup my old volume ‘Portable DVD Data (M_)’, and I get an error message saying that this volume cannot be found- that is because I have removed it from my system. How do I delete the backed up files for this volume on my MyBookLiveDuo? There does not seem to be a way to do this. (This should also remove the error messages). I can Retrieve them from the backed up list, but that is not what I want to do- I want to delete the backed up files for this old drive (M_).

  2. During the process of copying all files from my old drive (M_) using Windows Explorer, I had to use a different drive letter (K_) for the new WD My Passport 2TB drive. After I had completed this, I removed the old drive from the system, and renamed the new WD My Passport 2TB drive to M_. This comes up in Windows Explorer correctly as M: drive, but in Smartware, it comes up as ‘WD My Passport Videos (M_)’ in the heading under ‘GEOFF-PC’, but under the list of folders to select for backup, it comes up as WD My Passport 2TB HDD (K_)'. This is incorrect because I renamed the drive to ‘WD My Passport Videos (M_)’. How do I overcome this error?

  3. On one HDD, Smartware indicates my muisic folder has 121.7GB, but Windows Explorer ays only 17.7GB.  Is this because Smartware has been backup up multiple files?  How can I delete this and start over again just backing up once?

You can do that manually going through the drive in to share folder that says WD Smartware.

As a recommendation, try uninstalling the WD Smartware and install that again. This will make the software to read all the drives on your coputer again with the new information.

Thanks for your comments.  I understand your second comment and I will try uninstalling the WD Smartware and install that again.

However, your I have no idea what you are saying in your first comment.  On the Home tab, I can select the HDD that I no longer want, and also select MyBookLiveDuo and, from the pull down menu, SmartWare.  But, from there I do not know what you are saying.  I can go to the Backup tab and see the HDD to be backed up along with all the other filese already backed up, but I can’t see how to manually delete all the files on the old HDD.

Could you please explain in more detail?  I work in Category Backup mode, not File Backup mode.  Perhaps this is the missing piece of information?
