How do I make a system image for backup purposes? Does WD have software or do I use the Windows 10 backup
Depends on what you are backing up to, a network drive or a USB drive. If you are using a network drive, use the Windows image backup option. If it is a Western Digital USB drive, you can either use Windows or download the free version of Acronis from the WD Support page. It will only work if you have either an internal or external WD drive.
Here is a link to get the software. It doesn’t matter which page you get it from

Thanks for the suggestion. I did download Acronis, hooked up my WD external drive, selected full backup, and away it went. Had a little trouble because I did not unlock the drive (password protected). I wish the software would interface to that feature.

Acronis is it’s own company, but since WD partners with them, that would make an excellent feature request.
