I have two external HD’s on my iMac. I accidently erased the WD 2GB HD that is used for my Time Machine backup. Along with Time Macine data the WD software was also erased.
Now for some reason that HD will not mount on the Desktop of the computer.
Have you tried testing and diagnosing your hard drives using your Mac’s built-in Disk Utility? The hard drives may need a file system repair or be formatted.
Yes I did try to work with Disk Utility but I could not see the drive there. Or I thought I was not seeing it.
Today I called WD Support and the guy got things going for me. I was seeing an icon on the Desktop (and in Disk Utility) but it was not what looked like a normal HD icon. That is what had me fooled. For that reason I thought something was wrong. The tech had no answer for the weird icon but everything checked out and the HD just finished updating my Time Machine.
Again thank you for responding to my post … really appreciate your doing so.
