I’ve had an original HGST drive fail recently and am looking at replacement drives. Is replacing the failed drive with a larger capacity drive and rebuilding going to work? And then replace the good drive with another drive of the same larger capacity of the first? Will I need to re-configure the array in the configurator such that I’d lose all the data on the original drive or will it Just Work™? Or will the rebuilt drive sequence limit the raid array to the original capacity? FWIW, I’m using RAID 1. Am looking at WD UltraStar drives, are those a sufficient choice?
