What is the file system used by the drive and the macOS version? This error is common on macOS Ventura, Sonoma and Sequoia.
Did you used the drive in windows PC lately?
First, you need to figure out if this is a software issue or a hardware problem. Maybe the drive is physically damaged, or perhaps it’s a software glitch.
- Try a different USB/Thunderbolt port, cable, or adapter.
- Test the drive on another computer to rule out hardware failure.
After that, check the software glitch:
- Go to Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility.
- Look for the drive in the sidebar. If it appears but is grayed out, click Mount.
- If the drive is visible but has errors, select it and click First Aid to attempt repairs.
If the drive contains critical data and the drive not showing up on Mac, use data recovery software at least to retrive your files in the G drive.
