Hello
I’m planning to update the firmware on my SN850X 4tb.
It’s now formattet as apsf (I use it in a nvme enclosure on my mac M1).
Do I need to format the ssd to windows eg. exfat, when I connect it to my windows laptop in order to update the ssd?
Hi @Motu ,
Have you opened a Support Case? If not opened, for more information, please contact the WD Technical Support team for the best assistance and troubleshooting:
There is no need to specifically format the SN850X to exFAT. Firmware updates are not directly related to the drive’s file system.
It is recommended to back up important data first (I typically use MiniTool ShadowMaker). Then connect the SSD to a Windows PC and use WD Dashboard to check for and install firmware updates. If the SSD is not recognized when using an NVMe enclosure, it is best to install it directly into an M.2 slot on the Windows PC before attempting the update.
