Format an encrypted drive

Hi, so one of my clients has a 1tb drive that they lost the password to get into. They don’t want to keep the data, just to be able to use the drive. How can I format it without the password? I’ve tried gparted and regular windows computer management but I’m blocked. Help?

You’ll need to use the WD Utility to reset the password which will erase the drive.

I’ll have to wait for next time. Even though I just posted this, I ended up using DBAN. It’s running now, so we’ll see how it goes. Thanks for the reply though.
