Force an "incompatible" hard drive?

Does anyone know how I can force the Sentinel DX4000 to use a HDD it thinks is incompatible? I bought two new 3TB WD RED NAS drives, and it’s insane to me that the device won’t use them. It’s a WD NAS for Christ’s sake!

I can’t return them at this point. How can I override this incompatibility?

Unfortunately WD Red drives are not supported.

When considering upgrading the drives, is best to contact support  for suggestions.

Take a look at the following article for more information:

List of Compatible Hard Drives for WD Sentinel RX4100 and DX4000

You can buy a My Cloud EX4 and put those drives in there:

I was able to get all sorts of drives working inside the dx4000 even if they were not on the compatible list. What makes you think it wont use them?

Devices are designed with specifications just because you want to run a car at 200mph and the specifications say max speed 120mph doesnt mean it wont try to work outside the limits. Just don’t be surprised with things break. Same with computers…

I’m considerign ordering a DX4000, they’re a steal at the moment, but the lack of compatible expansion drives or availibility of the official drive kits is worrying me.

I don’t mind buyign a NAS or Enterprise class drive, I don’t mind them being from WD, I just would kike to knowm before I order them that when I stick 2 2TB WD drives in it (like this one  http://azerty.nl/8-857-247086/wd-re4-wd2003fyys-vaste-schi.html),,) it’s not that I’m being cheap, it’s that the expansion kit that I ordered is not available anywhere…

Found this procedure that seems allow you to specifiy additional drives. I can’t try it as I haven’t received my device yet. Has anyone here and can they confirm it works?
