Flashing light on external hard drive

Hello

A friend of mine has has me to check her WD external hard drive as she cannot access her photos via her laptop.

So, I have plugged in the external hard drive (WD Elements Model: WDBAAU0020HBK-UESN) to the mains and the USB to my Win 7 PC tower. If I look under my drives (Start | Computer) I cannot even see the external hard drive and on the hardware device itself, there is a little white light constantly flashing.

I would be grateful for any advice.

You can go to the disk management window and verify if the Elements is recognized there.
