Empty trash on passport

Trying to empty trash containing old backup files. Passport is full & cannot backup

Trying to empty trash containing old backup files. Passport is full & cannot backup

Free space on your full Passport by securely emptying the Trash:

1. Right-click Trash > “Open Trash”.
2. Review files (old backups?).
3. Right-click Trash > “Secure Empty Trash” (permanent deletion).

Note: Check backup sizes first to estimate freed space.

I do not have a “secure delete” option. I am using a Mac Hugh Sierra Os. I can delete all files from Passport except the old backup files. They do not show in trash unless my Passport is connected. I have been told to open the Backup.swstor file but I cannot find that file. Please help
