I have a WD60EFRX failing, which apparently WD doesn’t make any more. The only other model listed as compatible for 6 TB is the WD60EFAX. However, I don’t want to downgrade from the Red Plus CMR to the Red SMR. For higher capacities, the EFZX CMR drives are listed as compatible (i.e., WD80EFZX). Is the 6 TB version of that drive really not compatible? If not, why?
I would not put a SMR drive into a WD NAS. (frankly, or anywhere else for that matter)
