Just bought a My Book Studio and even though the encryption is off it is encrypting the backup which seems to be taking slightly longer than eternity! Also, I started a Quick Drive Test whixh whizzed through to 90% complete and has now hung.
I’d be grateful for any thoughts as to what’s up with it.

On what system are you using the drive?
What backup software are you using?
Regarding the test hanging on 90%, try using the drive on a different port and make sure that the power cable is connected directly to the wall outlet. Also you can try using a different USB cable.
