Creating shares remotely

Hi all. How can you create shares (public or private) remotely? I am on OS X and saw it is not possible using the My Cloud Desktop App or wd2go.com. I feel the easiest solution would be to map to that drive and manage my shares in Finder. Thanks for your time and help in advance!

You can’t.  The onyl way to add shares is via the GUI, and you can’t use that remotely.

Ok thanks very much! Wishing there might be solution in the future.

What are you trying to accomplish here? there may be a better approach

Generally you create a limited set of functional shares, user, music, pictures etc then create folders/directories within the shares. you can create all the folders/directories and files you want remotely.

blocking remote access to the UI is security issue. this could be bypassed with some hacking of the mycloud and router which I don’t recommend doing

My goal was to have the ability to create shares remotely but I figured out a workaround. Just put your files in folders beforehand and drag/drop in the My Cloud desktop program. Have a mapped network drive in my Finder would be much more convenient but I should be okay for now. Thanks.
