Choosing whether to replace 22 pin connector or Bios chip

2TB I broke the SATA connector on my WD2003FZEX drive. I have a donor PCB. The PCB appears to have 2 8 pin chips one marked U12 and the other marked U15. If I have to replace both chips, would i be better off replacing the 22 pin connector instead?

Hi @Lefty45
Have you opened a Support Case? If not opened, for more information, please contact the WD Technical Support team for the best assistance and troubleshooting:

I did open a support case. WD replied they do not repair nor do they authorize repairs, but it the drive was in warranty (it is not), then I could return it for a replacement.

Replacing the connector is much safer. That said, if the damage is limited to the power pins, you can hardwire a 4-pin Molex connector to the PCB.
