Cannot see WDTVLIVE hdd from Windows 8 PC Network

Hello,

I am having problems accessing the drive plugged to WDTVLIVE from the network to transfer files. There are no connectivity issues on WDTVLIVE,

it has a static IP address,  it can access the Internet successfully ,they are on the same Workgroup etc.

the thing is I can see the WDTVLIVE under the media devices but can’t see the elements drive plugged to it ,so I can’t transfer files to the drive from my PC. I think the problems started after upgrading to win 8. I dont remember any issues while using win 7.

I have downloaded the WD Discovery software and the software can find my drive plugged to WDTVLIVE so everytime I need to use the software to transfer any files. But I just want to see the the elements drive under my network whenever the the device is turned on.

Any suggestions are welcome.

Thanks.

You’re looking in the wrong place.   Media Devices won’t show connected storage.  Only network devices will show connected storage.

But I m not looking under media devices for the storage.Just mentioned that to tell that even though WDTVLIVE shows under media devices, the storage still doesnt show under "computers"under network where it is supposed to appear.
