I have a My Book AV that was hooked to my Dish Network DVR for about a year. I upgraded to a bigger one and I no longer have a use for the 1 TB MY Book AV so I was wondering if I could store photos on it. I tried hooking it up to my computer and a screen popped up and said it was ready to use, but I cannot see it in my drives section. Is this only compatible for use with a DVR? Thanks for any help.

Yes you can, but it’s possible you will need to format your unit before you can use it on your computer since it was being used with a DVR. This will erase all data within it and recorded TV shows.
