Hello, New to the MAC world and I have a My Passport Ultra. I would like to backup my mac but also be able to open files on a windows computer if needed. So not only to use as backup but also to view files when away from home like a USB. I have read about partitions but not suer what or how to work any of that.
If someone could set me up that would be great!

Depends on how the backup is handled. If you want to use Apple Time Machine then what you have in mind will not work since Time Machine will need for the hard drive to be formatted HFS+, which is incompatible with Windows.
