WD My Passport & MAC OS 10.15

Just finished installing the new MAC OS 10.15 and I wanted to know which FORMAT is the correct one to do a back-up on my Passport. Unfortunately I am a “neophyte” in this subject and am a little puzzled not understanding the meaning of “NTFS for Mac”. Can someone help me out on this? Thanks.

NTFS for Mac means you can use that drive on either Mac systems or Windows systems. If you use TimeMachineBackup, I think it prefer to format the drive as HFS+

Thank you. Is HFS+ similar to the MAC OS Extended (Journaled)?

If I want to do a back-up manually, can I just “drag” the files I am interested in right into the WD external drive?

Thanks again for your response.

Regards,

Richard
