Hi, I am considering buying the WD PR4100.
This would be my 1st WD NAS as my others are Synology and QNAP. A key feature for me is the backup function. I need to be able to backup from the WD to a non-WD NAS for example using rsync.
I already read an article how to enable rsync on the WD in order to backup from another NAS towards the WD via SSH.
My question concerns how to backup the other way so to backup data from WD PR4100 to another NAS (non-WD). Possibly by using some “non standard” functions on the WD.
If this is not possible the WD is not a usefull product for me.

What you have described is possible for other members of the WD My Cloud family. As such, I believe it should be possible for the WD My Cloud PR4100 as well. However, such proceedings are not warranted or supported by Western Digital at the time of this post.
Hopefully an experienced SSH User will be able to assist by confirming the steps needed to accomplish the desired configuration.
