I currently have an EX4100 running 4TB x2 in RAID1, and I have filled it to capacity. I would like to add two drives and run in either RAID5 or RAID10, but I can’t seem to find any step by step instructions to do this. From what I can tell, I need to back up the info to another hard drive, install the two new drives and start over, but if there is a different way to do this I would love to hear about it. I’ve tried searching for this, but most of the answers I’ve found are a little too vague for someone that isn’t very computer savvy. I appreciate any help anyone can offer.

This should be made a sticky as it is one of the most frequently asked questions in this forum, only second to why the EX4100 NAS randomly locks up requiring a power cord reboot.

For the record, I migrated from RAID 1 to RAID 5 and everything seems to be working great. Once I had those instructions, it was a piece of cake. I did back everything up to another hard drive first, but the files seem to be just fine.
