I have this running fine, but I notice one oddity.
Compression levels can be changed for “files and folders” backups, with resulting backup files in destination varying in size.
But for “disks and partitions” backups, while I can set different levels of compression in options, the result is always “normal” compression. All settings of compression produce the same size backup file in destination.
Despite any setting, the compression achieved depends on the files.
For example, text based files from MS Office, Open Office and the like, have a lot of “air” in them so they can compress quite a bit. Some graphics type are already pretty compressed so they will not likely compress any more.
Thanks.
I understand variation in compression result with content.
To be more specific in my example, when I set compression to “none” the resulting output file is same size as for setting of “normal.” “Normal” result is indeed smaller (compressed) compared to the original source size. “None” should mean no compression so compression variation due to content would not be an issue. And output file should be same size as original source. But as I said originally the “none” output file and “normal” output file are the same size, suggesting both are compressed in the same way.
This test was for only data files with no file types that acronis might skip.
