Is it possible to make available the “WD My Cloud EX4100 GPL Source Code” for the OS5 release ? I am testing some custom applications (eg. docker) with the new release and have found that certain kernel settings don’t appear to be set and would like to verify against the source code.
@JediNite, Currently GPL Source Code is not available for My Cloud OS 5 Limited Release, however we will release it along with My Cloud OS 5 Official Release.
@htb, Now that the official release is out, is there a timeline as to when the GPL Source codes will now also be released ? Also, how do we submit issues with the new firmware ? I hinted at one in this post (ie. the removal of support for docker builds and packages), but looks like no one in the Product Group picked it up before issuing the Public Release.
Any ideas on the timeframes when the source code for the newer releases is going to be available ? Even if we can’t get access to the lot, access to the config files that are used to build the kernel would be a good start so we can try and work out if further changes are needed to get the newer Dockers releases to work correctly.
Currently the “dockerd” binary throws a “Segmentation Fault” on any releases above 19.03.8, when used on an EX4100 NAS.
Any updates on when this will be released for the recent firmware builds ? At the end of the day, access to this GPL code allows us to see how things were build, provide useful feedback to WD and in turn allow your devs to produce a better long term product. We are only trying to help you guys out.
It would be nice if there was a commitment that say a week after a firmware is released, the matching GPL sources are also released. Is it possible to get this type of commitment ?
