Hello,
I am new to NAS and I bought MY Cloud Ex2 Ultra so that I can access work stuff from home easily. Now I have set it up at workplace but when I try to access the drive from home using IP address (using Windows 10 and try to map it) I cannot. Please help as I couldn’t get any support from work IT people.
Many thanks.
Your work IT people will have to support and enable this, as it’s basically remote access into your work network. And for very understandable security reasons they may well refuse this.
It’s not something normally that the average user can do, and indeed in many cases you could probably get fired for it if you do try on your own to bypass work’s data storage security protocols. They may not even like what you’ve done already by setting up your own non-sanctioned storage that is not under their control or remit.
You won’t be able to access the box remotely with the IP address that was assigned locally. You need to enable cloud access with the mycloud.com account for remote access. You can read more about it here - http://learn.mycloud.com/
And lastly, if your IT at workplace has security firewall setup then most likely they will be blocking these network communication.
