4TB External My Book Windows 7 SP1

I am running Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 [32-bit] and I just purchased Western Digital USB External My Book. I decided to reformat it using diskpart. Now, I’ve been told, that Windows has a limit on HDD, which is 2TB.

Can anyone assist me so that I can format 4TB My Book so that I can use it as one drive? I would appreciate any assistance you can supply me.

Thank You.

When you reformatted did you make sure you selected GPT instead of MRB? Drives larger than 2T need GPT.

Joe

No! :frowning:

How would I do that using diskpart for a 4TB WD External My Book HDD? You’ve been a big help!

Thank You.

David:mansad:

I’ve never used DiskPart. Try using the WD format tool it should be listed in the downloads for your drive.
