You require permission from WDMyCloud\nobody to make changes to this file

Who/what is WDMyCloud\nobody?

I am trying to delete some files that I no longer need before I do further experiments with backups but when I do I get the message
You require permission from WDMyCloud\nobody to make changes to this file

There is no user called “nobody” listed. Am I missing something?

Where are you trying to delete these files, File Explorer, Desktop app, mycloud.com etc.? Are you able to provide an image of what pops up?

You may want to look at this topic/post.

Thanks for replying. I have no idea why but after I took the time to start the thread I went back to where I was trying to delete stuff and tried again and it worked normally.

FWIW, I was working in File Explorer. I’m going to mark it solved but I’d still like to know who “nobody” is…

“Nobody” is a generic user defined in many Linux systems that has no or minimal privileges.

OK, that makes sense. But what can you do when when "Nobody"s permission is needed?
