WDbackup doesn't see mypassport wireless

I have a mypassport wireless that is connected to my network via wireless.

If I go to my “wired” computer, I can see the mypassport wireless device when I go http://mypassport.

However, when I run the WDBackup program, the only thing that it sees is DropBox.  How do I get “backup software” to see a wireless mypassport over the wired network?

Is this forum dead?  It kinda looks like it. This apparently is not a new problem…here is a post from 2013 and here it is 2015 still with no solution.  You guys awake there?

Hello and welcome to the WD Community.

If you are using the WD Smartware backup software, the drive needs to be plug in to perform the backup.

That can’t be as it makes absolute no sense.  What would be the purpose of a " wireless" device, if I have to ’ Plug it in" with a “wire” to do the backup???

This is the WIRELESS myPassport and this is WD Backup.

I have the same question: absolutely no sense. What is the answer from WD ???
Same problem for WDSmartware
