I bought two drives 2000Gb Western Digital (WD2005FBYZ) 128Mb 7200rpm SATA3 Gold and make the RAID 1 array (motherboard - ASUS Sabertooth Z87). The hard drives works fine, but I get the long and loud noise when I power off my computer. This noise makes by both drives (I try to connect it separately one-by-one).
I make the video sample of this noise:
Can you help me with the information: what’s wrong with the drives? This is a warranty case?
I believe the sound that is generating when you power off the host computer is from the motherboard, there could be multiple reason for the issue that you have. I would recommend you to read the user manual of the motherboard.
Rocky.S, I don’t hear this noise if WD hard drives are disconnected. This noise generated by WD hard drives. I can capture the video sample with disconnecting the drives if you want.
Same problem here, I have 2 WD HDD, Gold 2TB and Black 2TB, they both do this sound on power down, and I have 4 other WD HDDs that are ok, no strange sounds from them, I am trying to get an answer from a technician, but they keep sending me to troubleshooting page (sounds, test and so on…) that gives no results…
