New user. Using WD Smartware for backing up my PC files to the EX2. Two question:
-
I have the backups going to a Share I created and every time there’s an interruption I have to reenter my password. I would rather not use the Public share for my backups and I want the back up folder to be secure. Any options?
-
Backups are horribly slow from PC to EX2. I have my EX2 connected to my wireless router. My speed is typically 70 Mbps. Why so slow, what can I do to make it faster?
Thanks,
Rick
Very hard question “Why so slow” if you do now tell us more about your network configuration ( what router, what computer, what type of connections, what OS, etc )
Linksys N Router/Motorola SB6141 Router
Dell Computer (16 GB RAM)
Windows 7 OS
Not sure on connections?
Thanks
Also…I have the WD Smarware set to back up as changes occur
take a look at this topic, maybe you will fin some answers: http://community.wd.com/t5/WD-My-Cloud-EX2/What-to-do-to-increase-transfer-speed/m-p/847195
so I will take a guess here that you EX2 is connected via ethernet cable into your router. From what i saw at a first glance is that it has gigabyte port, but not sure if it’s using it. To your router you are connecting the computer via WIFI.
-
are your wireless board’s drivers updated ?
-
are you using b or n or ac type ?
-
what type of encryption does your router use for wifi and have you tried changing it ?
-
are you using 20ghz or 40ghz and have you tried changing it to see if it helps ?
-
are there other computers on your network and is the speed the same ?
6.what’s the distance between your router and computer and what interferences do you have?
-
are there other wifi channels in your area the same as you are using ?
-
what HDD configuration are you using in the EX2 ?
-
does the speed improve if you plug in the EX2 directly into your computer ( to rule out the writing speed on the nas, or software limitations) ?
so you see, not very easy to pinpoint the problem
