WD Red 2 TB NAS Hard Drive: 3.5 Inch, SATA III, 64 MB Cache - WD20EFRX

I would like to get 2 of these drives for Synology DS213.  I have seen some reviews where people can’t get these drives recognized.  I see they are compatiable with the DS213 but if I am running either Windows 7 or  say server 2008 R2 would these be seen by either OS?

The type of drive used in a NAS is irrelevant from the “client” OS point of view.   Windows 7 or 2008 don’t even know what the disks are.  It’s accessing a file system, not a disk.

OK, that is what I thought except reading reviews I kept seeing people say that the drives were not recognized.  So they must not have been in a NAS even though they said they were trying them in some sort of NAS device.  Maybe this drive was just not supported by the manufacturer.
