Hi everyone! I have a WD Passport 3TB that was a private cloud storage device, which was discontinued by WD in 2022. I was very annoyed with the company and decided to just discard the device. Now I’m trying to access my files and photos and I can’t. When the company said they would no longer provide support, they said I could access it locally, but I haven’t been able to. Could someone help me? Thank you in advance.
What exact model is it?
When was the last time you successfully accessed it?
Have you consulted the manual about how to access locally?
Are you trying to connect with a desktop, laptop, or mobile device?
I understand your frustration. Since the WD private cloud devices are discontinued, accessing your files can be tricky. One approach is to remove the hard drive from the enclosure and connect it to a PC with a SATA-to-USB adapter. On Linux, you can often mount the drive directly and copy your files. If you’re not comfortable doing this, some data recovery services can help you safely extract your photos and documents.
