I’ve had a 1TB Elements portable drive for almost two months, and it’s worked fine. This morning, I tried to plug it in, and it wouldn’t connect to my computer. It doesn’t show up in Finder or in Disk Utility. I tried every usb port, three different cables, and even plugged it into another computer. When I plug it in, it lights up and makes a little whirring sound with a click at the end. It repeats that sound a few times, then stops. The light stays on, but it won’t connect to the computer.
I have extremely important files on this. They aren’t backed up anywhere else and if I lose them, I lose everything I’ve spent the last three months working on. Is there any way to get it to connect again?
Does it show up in Disk Utilities?
Mine does not show up in Disk Utilities. Do you have other steps to follow to troubleshoot?
