My external hard drive was dropped onto a concrete floor. The light continuously flashes and my laptop will not recognize it. Is there anything I can do to salvage my data?

You will need to contact a professional data recovery service to salvage your data.

Not cheap though … data recovery will cost hundreds of dollars.

Keeping backups of your important data costs nothing.
