WD Discovery install hanging

So I set this up using the online setup, made an account, and that side of things seems to be working. But when I download the desktop (Windows 7 64-bit) software, it hangs at the borderless cloud background with the animating cloud icon with the word “Installing…” directly above it.

I’ve walked away, came back hours later, it’s still “Installing…”. I’ve cleared out my temp files, restarted, made sure all updates are installed for the OS, and it still hangs. Curiously, diving into the WD Discovery folder and running WD Discovery.exe directly pops up a program, but the option to log in to my cloud account is disabled (the upper half the screen implores me to plug in my USB external device if it’s USB, which the My Cloud Home is not).

I’m still within my return period and thinking I must have bought the wrong device. If I can’t access it locally, it’s of no use to me.

If following above don’t resolve the issue, Maybe you should try contacting WD’s Technical Support about this.

Definitely submit a support ticket, that will allow us to collect some extra info. Sounds like one of the sub components isn’t installing correctly. There are a couple of things that could cause this but looking at the logs should help lock it down.
