recently found out western digital products are no longer available the ones that are available prices are crazy on ebay etc…any recommendations for alternatives i dont stream i use an external hard drive hook up via usb and play movies and tv shows from the drive any recommendations with mkv playback feature i did a search feature only seeing kodi and fire stick recommendation again not using it for streaming unless one of the to have hard drive hook feature plays mkv high res audio playback feature etc
Fire Stick is definitely for streaming, but it can be used as a media player, too. I use this on a TV that does not have a WDTV attached.
Kodi is software, but still needs to be on hardware like the Fire stick. I switched from using Kodi to the Amazon version app called Mr. MC from Amazon App store. Has the guts from Kodi but is easier to install and operate by family members… Created by a Kodi developer for Amazon.
