Sharespace 4TB: replacement disk (WD10EADS-11M2B1)?

Hi All,

Last night, the volume of my Sharespace 4TB (in RAID5, purchase date September 2010) got into ‘degraded mode’ and it appears disk 4 is failing. This disk is type WD10EADS-11M2B1 (Caviar Green 1TB 5400RPM SATA 3Gbps 32MB Cache). Unforutnately such type is no longer available, other types are; which one, e.g. WD10EALX, WD10EZRX is a suitable and supported successor, please?

In this type of situations is best to contact WD direct

since we don’t know the firmware on the drives is not easy ( unless if you try ) to determine which one is the best for this model Sharespace

Hi Wizer,

Thank you for your feedback. I already contacted WD Support with my question; my ShareSpace is still under limited warranty, so it is possible to return the complete Sharespace system but then all my data will be lost. That’s why I only want to replace the defective HD. ‘Trial and error’ does not fit i my plan either, as you can imagine.

Anyone else knows the answer, please? Thanks in advance!
