Is there some combination of settings which allow me to copy (not move) photos from an SD card when inserted without having the WiFi turned on? just looking to save on battery life when in the field and using MPW to backup SD cards.

I believe this is not possible sicne the funcion works with the unit with the wifi conection on, however lets see if anothe ruser can share some tips and information on this matter.

From the manual.
In the my passport dashboard. Go to media, SD card, import mode:copy, automatic import on
Answered above. Add turn the WiFi off using the WiFi button on the MPW.
