I have regularly backed up my PC on a My Book WD using Windows 7 . My PC crashed and I had to recover it by forcing the PC to reset everything back to the factory settings. Now when I look in the Windows 7 / Control Panel / System and Restore / Backup and Restore, there are none of my old backup files or systems images. Does anyone know how to find the files and system images and then restore them to my PC?
Is the my book recognized by the PC? That would be the first step.
Yes, the PC recognizes the My Book hard drive. However, when I go to the Windows 7 backup and restore , the program does not recognize my old backups on My Book.
I have the same problem. I have backed up my files to My Book Premium external drive for years.
I have a new windows 7 - 64 bit desktop and need to transfer my documents, pictures, etc to my new PC.
I’ve loaded the software and Windows 7 recognizes the drive and I can list the files in Windows Explorer.
However when I start WD Backup, the restore tab does not list any backups. Any advice or assistance would be
appreciated.
I just encountered the same problem: OS on new hard drive does not see any old image files even though My Book is recognized as external HD. Up until my old HD crashed, weekly backups were seen/available.
Is there software that can be loaded onto My Book so as to make new OS see the old images OR, can such software restore from My Book given permission?
What are my alternatives? The sole purpose of buying My Book was to be able to recover from a HD crash.
Please help,
Thanks,
Jim
