Power supply fail on PC, now 2TB WD external drive is not connecting. Led indicator blinks continuously

We had a power supply fail , melted two of the power leads serving the mother board. We’ve replaced it, everything seems to be there but I can’t get the pc to connect to the external drive. The power indicator keeps blinking when its plugged in. I have tried connecting to a diffrent pc, same thing.
sounds like a trip to data recovery…
Any thoughts ?

Probably fried the 5V supply on the USB bus. What kind of drive is it?

Well now I feel pretty dumb… tried a few things mentioned in other posts, connected to diffrent computer , diffrent usb cable and nothing . so I unplugged it and was going to take it in to someone , gave it another try but this time I used a diffrent outlet on the power bar and its back. Light still blinks all the time but its working … not sure if unplugging the transformer did the trick or the diffrent outlet. The light was always there but couldn’t see it on the PC , its up now so i’ll take my lumps with the wasted time and call it a win…
Thanks for the reply
