out of curiosity, why do you need a firmware update ?
I have about 12 WD Elements hard drives from Portables to Desktops purchased in the last 5 years, and the most recent, 2 weeks ago.
Haven’t updated the firmware on any of them, or felt the need to.
All are working fine
