WD Community

New User Confusion

I’m a little confused/lost here as there is no place (that I could find) for a GENERAL NON-Spcific question. I have a question that (to me) does not have a specific HD identity. And, I’m a little unsure as to the difference between a category and a topic; don’t topics fall within a category? I’m aware of a question being directed to a specific Hard Drive but not a general/discussion type topic. Perhaps someone could enlighten me as to the procedure to post here correctly?

A Category is what you see when you log onto the main Community page. Software, Portable Drives, External drives, etc., with the “subcategories” about the specific product lines. Topics are what we create when we post a new “topic”. Other forums may refer to it as a new “thread”.

If your question is too generic but WD related, you may want to contact WD Support directly or just go ahead and ask here so someone can either answer or direct you to a more proper place (perhaps even some other forum site)?

You can also ask the almighty google or your prefer AI chatbot and see what you get.

@OldIBMRSS

What WD device do you own? What operating system, if any, does your device have? What type of problem are you having?
