New dlna server

Hi i have a 2tb my book live with twonky on it i updated it to the full one and worked fine  i just got a 3tb mybook live and it doesn’t have twonky on it only the new dlna server is there any way to put twonky on it the switching patch doesn’t work coz twonky isn’t on my device  hope some one can help and sorry if it has been asked already i did have a good look thanks

Hey!

You can go to  http://wdc.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/5735 and it will explain you how to enable TwonkyMedia Serve.

thanks but i have done that already it only works if you have twonky on your device already which i don’t  i want a way to get twonky on so i can use that method thanks

You will need to rollback to firmware 02.11.09-053 as that contains twonky. Then you would upgrade to the newest firmware. You will then be able to switch between servers without issue. See my rollback guide

In the folder “Twonky Server PowerPC”

I keep copies of all known versions for the WDMBL

Note:

This is the longest I have seen the site down on the forums site where the downloads are located

it has happened in the past, hence why I started to archive the bits

yeh i hope so i don’t like the new dlna server wd are using you have to go through to many folders to get to where you want to be and mkv files shows the title and not the file name so can be hard to know what it is any work around for these and i would use it

@nfodiz

no doubt, it has been a while

I have been slammed working on my current assingment

lots of political and technical challenges

and somewhat of a moving target

What version are you looking to upgrade to?

What version is currenlty installed, did you apply the patch to go back to 5.x from WD?

For reference, Im still using 7.0.9

  1. since I heavily modified it

  2. to me it is the most stable, and least amount of issue, in my use cases

Copy it to the root of you nas’s public share \mybooklive\public

Use the following script ( I changed the WGET to perform a COPY it from the Public Share )

/etc/init.d/twonky stop
cd /usr/local/
mv twonkymedia-5 twonkymedia-5.1.9
mkdir twonkymedia-5
cd twonkymedia-5

cp "/shares/Public/twonky-powerpc-glibc-2.2.5-special-7.0.9.zip" /usr/local/twonkymedia-5

unzip twonky-powerpc-glibc-2.2.5-special-7.0.9.zip
mv twonkystarter twonkymedia
mv /usr/local/sbin/writeTwonkyContentDir.sh /usr/local/sbin/writeTwonkyContentDir.sh.old
/etc/init.d/twonky start
exit
